Leather material on tip of razor after stropping. Advice?

Hello everyone,
After every stropping, I find a tiny amount of leather (almost appears like residue) on both sides of the spine tip of my razor. It is on the face side of the razor at the edge of the spine. My razor has no spine work or hone wear. My razor always has a great edge after stropping, but now I'm seeing a wear line on the left side of the strop from top to bottom, especially at the top and bottom where I roll the razor (all on the left side). I have tried using other razors and get the same thing, so I know it is me. I have also adjusted my stropping pressure to none at all to moderate and still get it regardless. What do you recommend?

Could be you have a micro chip that scratched your strop.
Hard to tell really, your best bet would be to use magnification to check the bevel and see if a chip is the problem.

The problem is I get it regardless of which razor I use, so I am pretty confident it is my technique.

What type of strop are you using?

Ahhh...there ya go...your strop may be the culprit. If it's a newer latigo then they'll do that till they're broken in a bit. I have the red latigo from SRD and it did that for the first while too. It goes away and everything is fine :)

If you have recently oiled the strop or done anything to add moisture to it, that could be the culprit as well.
Of course it is possible that you are putting pressure on the toe - slow down for a few strokes and see if you can figure out what's happening.

No oils other than a daily hand rub. The strop is about 6 months old. I slowed down and everything feels right. Im at a loss.

Sounds normal to me. Just wipe the residue off of your razor.

Normal. Just a well oiled strop.

People who lather their strops for additional draw run into this. The residue is easy to remove and doesn't cause a problem.

My latigo still does this after over a month of daily use :)

I'm going on 6 months and it still does it, but slightly less. I now have an up/down streak on the strop, but it doesn't effect the shave quality at all.

I've had that happen for a long time after i got my strop, still pick up a bit of color on my razors every once and a while just wipe it off and no problems
