I found some nice hook at Home Depot (a store to which I vow never to return) near where the expensive door knobs, etc.. are. Chrome, brass and white, nicely sculpted and about #2 each.

I use a length of rawhide boot lace around a door knob.

This thread has some pictures of various strop hooks.

I lagged a stainless steel eye bolt into a stud in my bathroom and attached a stainless steel carabiener thing to it. There is a pic in that thread. Of course, now I have a Tony Miller strop hanging from it rather than those Dovo strops.
Well, when I first read your title I thought you were getting a little too attached to your strop ";" :nono:
I just zip tied it to the door knob as is. Works pretty well. I lock the door when I strop so my wife doesn't open it up while I am stropping :gth
I'm sure, that like me, you are all referring to taxidermy?

I had a couple of 1.5 inch steel rings from a metal puzzle, and attached one
ring to strop hanger. I then tapped up the pin in my door hinge, and whenever
I use the strop, just hang it from the middle hinge pin, and lock the door.
It will damage the frame if you leave it on all the time so never open the door
while it's there..... It's about 42 inches from the floor, so it's a little high for me
as I'm only 5'8', but it might be just right for you taller guys..
I use a large carabiner and hook it to the towel bar, it works very nice. :)
I use a shower curtain ring to hook my strop to my bathroom doorknob, one like this:
