Thread: noob question when to strop??

I never strop directly after a shave. While it may be important to remove gunk from the blade after a shave, I'm not going to allow that to get on my strop. I'm a "night stropper", stropping 100 laps every night. If I don't have a razor that needs stropping, I'll just have a couple of drinks and beat the wife.

I strop 20xs after and 40xs b/4. Seems to work well for me.

Mr Night, I won't add my .02 on the topic - I'm from the strop 'til you drop crowd.
I want to say 'Bravo' for asking the Noob questions. They're never a waste. New guys are coming to the party so often, these basic questions are exactly what is needed time and again. True, you could get these answers from the Wiki. But sometimes the answers aren't easy to find. The point is that you did the right thing by asking. 'Hope every new shaver does likewise.

Thanked: 485You're a crack up!
Too true. Did you notice how he said we'd answered his question but we can't help from replying again and again? He won't stop us. We'll answer his question for months now...
Good point re the gunk on the strop point though, even though I always do 30/70 before and 10/10 after. After the gunk on the strop point I'm actually re-considering the logic of the after shave stropping...
PS 30/70 is 30 canvas/70 leather (or linen and leather for my linen and leather strop)...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
