my strop technique ! request advice

Hi guys

i have 2 strops , The first is the latigo and fabric webbing with it ,the other just leather with Chromium Oxide .
My way to work is 10 strok on inside canvas , 10 on outside , 30 - 50 on latigo , 20 on oxide leather , Finally 10-15 on outside canvas again .

so

1-is this a good technique?

2- Is there a difference already between the inside and outside of the fabric webbing?

3- I have a additionalpiece of fabric webbing . Can you advise me put chromium Oxide on it ? and when i use it?

I would not suggest using CrOx for everyday stropping. CrOx has two general uses:

1) After honing to tame or "mellow" an edge that is too sharp or harsh for your own comfort, and

2) After a certain number of shaves you will feel the edge begin to dull a bit, perhaps feel a bit of pulling or "tugging".. at this point a CrOx stropping will restore some of the original sharpness, thus prolonging the interval between honings.

The canvas or webbing strops have a small amount of abrasive effect upon the edge, sharpening it to some extent while the leather is much less abrasive and tends to draw out and smooth the edge. Most people will finish on the leather.

CrOx pasted strops are usually used for touchup, when daily stropping on unpasted canvas and leather will no longer get the razor sharp. The unpasted strops will regain their effectiveness after the razor stropping on CrOx. CrOx extends the number of shaves before rehoning becomes necessary. When stropping on CrOx no longer works, it is time for a rehoning.

A common daily stropping routine may be 20 strokes on unpasted canvas/linen followed by 40 - 60 on unpasted leather. Some prefer to use finishing hones in place of pasted strops. Using only unpasted strops for daily preshave and postshave stropping is widely recommended.

Learning how to strop effectively takes time like learning to shave. Whatever works to keep your edge shave ready is OK.
