The raw materials, 1 strip of denim, 2 pieces cut from biro barrels the same length as the width of the denim, 2 lengths of paracord about a foot long each.

Job done.
I know it will fray a bit, but I wanted to make something quick and easy to try thr fabric and see if i like it, though even if I do it will probably stay like this until it disintegrates.
What's a biro barrel?

A biro, is just another name for cheap ballpoint pen. The barrel is the bit you hold.

I do like the strop idea. I did a canvas on board with some packing foam in the sandwich. Pain in the butt and it worked. I haven't used it much but I like it and the way it works. It's just those dang loose ends. I used a fabric glue and then made a cut down the middle of that. no loose ends. Then I glued that down over the foam (which is very thin) to the board with contact cement.

You can see the next step I tried was a fail. to much glue and it turned brown. I cancelled the project for now.
I like the denim hanger idea. Will be watching for wear :<0)
All I can tell you is that unicorns are real, beyond that I can't help. The whole idea was to make the strop as cheaply, quickly and easily as poss. Well under an hour including the hand sewing.

Well it worked ok, I tried it just now, and am about to try the razor (my least favourite), it turned out that the denim had a bit of sretch, but that's ok, I think the double up was to try and limit the ridge at the edge. Mine will fray but at $0.30 worth of fabric I can just replace it, it is 80mm (3.25") wide too.Quote:
