Victorian silver razor strop
Here is a victorian silver antique strop that was for sale locally. Some of you may find it of interest.

Thanked: 1587I have one of those - they do indeed make a good travel strop. The leather on mine needed quite a lot of TLC but once it was fixed up it turned out to be very nice leather indeed! I think the fact that it needs to roll up meant they used a very nice quality, supple leather that does an excellent job. I have mine hanging up with my other strops, and it gets used every time I hone a razor.
Congratulations on a nice score.

Think window shade roller! They are rather simple but very hard to find in good condition. Even nickle plated ones go high.
To clean, you can carefully see which end is made for removal ( not soldered) and when it comes off, watch yourself as the spring is wound tightly and has a lot of energy!
Re-winding and re-threading of the spring is a pain but doable!
