Hi all,
I think I may have read just about every post there is having to do with warming up the leather strop prior to using it to help get a more velvety draw. What's odd is that it works best if I just let my palm sit on the strop stationary for about 5 seconds and then move it to another location on the strop and repeat until I've covered the full length of the leather. But it never works if I actually rub the leather back and forth with the intent of heating it up. What gives?
Just did a test with my laser temp gauge,strop was 67.2 degs,20 rubs, it was 70.4 degs,what do's all this mean? no clue
0.16 degrees per rub. Yeah I got nothing either.Quote:

Would really hate to see this thread go south guys (as it is) I think warming a strop may have some merits.
No offence intended...just a little attempt at some humor...thought rubbing the strop fairly vigorously before stropping warmed and oiled it up suitably.

Sorry bill, I agree that strop rubbing is worthwhile, in fact I need to start doing it more, it hasn't had any tlc for a while. And no there is no double-entendre in there before the children amongst us start sniggering.
