I have to agree, the lower price TM strops are in a different league. I wasn't to keen on the felt I got with my Big Daddy strop. The leather was all right though. I've had SRD strops that were of really good quality too. You might want to look at those too.

For what it's worth I do know that the star shaving strops will be offering a canvas material in the near future if not already. I think felt is better for like a medium such as diamond spray paint to use on a piece of wood like a bench home for refreshing. 4 everyday stropping I prefer canvas or linen if I have to choose more often than not I just use plain leather haven't really found the benefit of adding another component. No doubt about it the SRD stripes are top notch quality I own one it's one of my favorites I love it but it's in a different price point. If you want to spend a little bit more and getting SRD you can't go wrong. Same goes with any of the Tony Miller their grades drop even the plain vanilla entry level or beginners drop whatever its called these days. Problem I have seen with some of the Rich man strops is inconsistencies in the leather

The Big Daddy was my first strop and I consider it an excellent value.

    A little update:

I received the Big Daddy strop and I am really satisfied. Great build quality and the feel of both the felt and the leather is excellent!!
