Do i need 2 strops ?

So i recently purchased a Dovo and a strop. I am new to the straight razor shave but i understand that the razor usually need some finishing to be shave ready.

My strop is with leather and linen side. On the linen i applied some TI razor paste which i understand has some abrasives. Well after some stropping on both linen and leather the razor seems to work well (however my skills need more refinement)

After reading more of these interesting threads and tips i understand that most people usually strop on both linen and leather prior to each shave. I suppose it''s not possible to remove the strop paste from my linen strop. So should i purchase another "clean" linen strop to be used for daily stropping without any paste ? Or do i just perform my daily stropping only on leather.?

You could get a new linen/fabric strop for your daily stropping.
A lot of people on here only uses leather though, so I guess it is up to you really:)
But stay off that pasted linen strop unless your razors edge starts to go a little.

And nice to see other norwegians performing this art, thought maybe i was the only one..

Can you use the inside portion of the linen or are they one piece? I have crox on the inner potion of my linen.

Not to come off as hijacking here, but this raises a question I have had for a while.....

Traveling with a leather strop can be a chore. Yes, I know there are strops built especially for rolling up and sticking in a kit but my query would be is such a thing REALLY necessary? Can a razor be stropped effectively on a strip something other than leather (linen, fine and-or coarse cotton weave fabric) or something similar and still maintain an effective edge for a week or so while on the road? Preferably something without CrOx or sprays/pastes as I just don't like them. Thanks in advance for any information......

you should buy 2 strops. one for daily stropping without pastes, and one for touchup with pastes

i've read that one can use a folded up newspaper, though i've never tried it myself.

One can never have too many strops

To answer your question, no you do not need more than one
strop, imo. My grandfather shaved his entire adult life with a single leather strop. It was smooth and slick as I recall. He passed in the mid 60's living into his late 80's.
