Hello SRP,
I bought a strop from ClassicShaving.com. The issue with is it was packed so tightly in a circle that even after a month there are still some curves in it that go up and down, making it harder to use, as the razor will go up and down when attempting to strop.
Is there a method of straightening it out?
I would just return it if possible and let them know that their shipping procedures are doing harm to the merchandise. Maybe a picture of the damage might be of help to see if its salvageable or not but personally I would just return it.
If I were you, I'd email or call them and tell them what the problem is. I'm sure they'd prefer to talk to you about it rather than you asking us, who have not seen it, don't know how bad it is or what the issue might be. JMHO.
If it was rolled one way I'd roll it the opposite way. Seems to me that ought to reverse the trend, unless it was folded in a way that put creases in it.
I would try this too, and if it doesn't help try weighing it down overnight. Either way, they shouldn't have rolled it that tight...Quote:

If they did the opposite, the finish of the stropping surface will buckle and cause the wavy irregularities you mentioned. I was advised by Lynn to daily rub the heel of my hand over the stropping surface quickly back and forth until it gets warm to keep the strop conditioned. I wonder if that would also take the warp out of it over time. I purchased my 3" strop from Classic Shaving too and it's straight now but I don't remember having any persistent curves either.
Really guys, if you purchase an item and it's defective just send it back for a new one. if you try self remedial work and that doesn't work that gives them the excuse to deny you a replacement. Most of the established outfits are really good and they would replace the item immediately. You spent good money and you should get a good item whether it's due to poor shipping or just a defect doesn't matter.
Get what you pay for.
