Well, the strop should "bring your razor back to life". :)
Those strops are famous. The cloth strop is the best quality Linen you can get. Some soap and water and a scrub brush and it will look like new with a greyish tint to it. They simply don't make em like that any more. The leather part is one of the thickest finest pieces of leather you will find. I have one just like yours and nothing beats it period either yesterday or today.
One of the ways of telling the quality of a vintage strop is the hardware it came with. The best strops have heavy solid hardware and that one has the best.
As TBS said, they were famous. They were the top of the line Certifyd strop. Finest shell horsehide. I knew pro barbers who swore by them years ago, and I have one that I use sometimes. Great strops.
I have one too. It still works great.
What does the number 700c signify?
At the barber shop today I was talking to the barber about razors and strops. He showed me a vintage strop they had behind the counter. It was very heavy leather, twice as thick as my SRD Latigo strop. The very vague number at the bottom looked like 800.
We've discussed this before. The higher the number the better quality the strop. The letter I assume are subgroups. Mine is a straight 700.
