CAREFULLY! I ordered a medium with my new custom Livi razor and the cost is up there. I really like the SRD design for the money but I just had to try his strop. I will tell you a suggestion Lynn posted about using a strop. I find on the paddle and loom strops if you hold the end up and angle it slightly toward you it works great. The blade holds the surface much better then against a flat surface and I haven't nicked the strop since I started doing it. I also find I can roll the blade over the spine easier. I just tried a regular strop using this method and I find the blade goes across the surface with very little pressure or give on the strop. Glad there are so many to share their ideas with us Newbees.
I have the large one and stropping with it is pure pleasure.
You always hold it at an angle towards you. I don't think keeping it flat on a surface is a good idea.

If needed, a leather/fabric replacement loom can be bought separately (at about 2/3 of the price of the complete loom strop).
I bought mine directly from Mastro Livi when in Europe and it appears that Straight Razor Designs may be reducing their Mastro Livi inventory.

Got my Mastro Livi medium strop and I was amazed using the leather. What in the world leather or skin does he use? It has a feel like nothing else I've tried. Really smooth with almost no drag or resistance. It's like using a Ark surgical black compared to a Norton stone. It really puts a heck of a polish on the blade. Going to try the chromium oxide side later today on a troubled blade to see what happens.

What's the best way to clean the linen - chromium oxide side of the Livi loom strop? Wish he came out with a video on that side of the loom strop.
I just stropped 6 razors on my new loom strop. 2 Austs, a Mastro Livi, Vintage Puma, DD and Genco. I am amazed at the edge the chromium oxide side puts on the razors. Its incredibly sharp but shaves very smooth. I can see using this instead of refreshing with all my stones and strops. Using his recommended maintenance I bet you can go years without a major refresh. I would love to visit Mastro Livi and watch first hand his making of a razor. I would really like him to show me in person the way he strops his razors. I have 4 with another ordered and they come ready to shave. They also hold an edge really well providing I don't screw them up. When we talk about BBS shaves, I would use that to describe the skin he uses on the other side of the strop.
Just used lighter fluid on a lint free cloth and it worked great. Let it try for a couple of hours and your set to go.
