Back to the OP's question. We know that 1.5 ID linen fire hose flattens to 2.5 inches wide.
As to a 3-inch strop..
Some 2-inch ID fire hose out there? Somebody do the math! :rofl2:
In reading of the current Kanoyama fabric. I would say it quite soft in comparison.
Effective, yet gentle medium. My old Kanoyama strops also have softer fabric.
Someone in another thread explained that they bought out fabric strops to mate with their leather, WHICH was brought in from the USA and worked into strops.
Nobody has convinced me that old 'Certified' USA strops did not run through his hands back in the day. A seller in Hawaii sold a reft of Certifyd strop stamps with a variety of barber suppliers, hardwares a few years ago. Where did those come from?
Red Imps. Russians. How many are from Japan?
I can promise that the master made strops all day long. Likely to the highest bidders!
