I have an SRD wool hanging strop that I sprayed 0.5 CrOx on. I am not really sure I can tell any difference before and after stropping on this.
I have read in a couple of places some opinions that this setup may round the edge over, since the wool is by nature a little resilient, then you add in the slack of a hanging strop.
So --- is this really something to worry about?
If so, would putting the strop on a hard surface work better than using it as a hanging strop?
Is this your first fabric strop? I don't have wool, but I have a webbed fabric strop. It is a bit soft, but it definitely improves my razors, so I don't think a slight "give" in the strop is that harmful. I don't use sharpening paste on my fabric though, I use paste (now actually stone slurry) on a leather strop. It works better for me. If I need to slightly sharpen, then I use slurry on leather, then fabric, then pure leather.
So....maybe my setup isn't directly comparable to yours :)
It'll be fine. Light pressure and relatively few strokes are all that's needed, and that won't bugger up your edge.

I have sad felt pad and it's works very well.
I have a felt hanging strop, which I presume is wool, and have sprayed it with Crox. I give my blades 20 laps on it after the Naniwa 12K, wipe the blade and then do my linen and leather regular stropping. After that it is 10 laps on the sprayed felt strop followed by linen and leather before each shave. It is a bit of an experiment to see how well adding the felt Crox sprayed strop works using it this way. So far so good.

I will continue to use my wool stop with CrOx and not worry. Though I will of course make doubly sure to keep the strop taut.
