So...Is that a Livi loom strop, Paul?
Not to mention if they had that much on there, who knows if it was actually of a pure consistency. Best to get off what you can.

I actually went with the WD-40 first. Even though the WD-40 is a solvent, I assumed it was better than lighter fluid. As soon as the WD-40 dissipated or was absorbed, I put a coat of neatsfoot oil down. That was about a year ago and I'm happy to say, this strop is producing excellent results. I love this thing!
Looking at the subject, I don't think WD out of line. It does go away after a while.
Neetsfoot could mean the use of a powder mixed with an oil to apply with.
Anyhoo...Less could be best sometimes!
