Strop Hardware and End Material Questions

Did some searches but didn't find what I was looking for in old threads.
Looking for good quality strop hardware that looks nice, as well as leather that will work well for end caps. Found some hardware that would do the job, but looks like it would take 1-2 months to get here.

1 - What types of hardware/hooks do you think work best? Sources?

3 - Type of leather that works well for caps and looks nice? Do you need heavier leather or is lighter weight stuff (weight?) work well? I've only used bridle so far.

It depends on how deep down that rabbit hole you go. For example, I just ordered the whole strop hanging kit from Razor Emporium for about 40 bucks shipped for the 6 basic, utilitarian parts all designed to work as a whole. I've got a nice kangaroo hide coming from Aussie that I plan to pair it with.

Of course some of the higher end bespoke strops nowadays sport some really nice (much more expensive) hardware. For me, it depends on the thickness and heaviness of the stropping surface. My fire-hose strop got outfitted with brass chicago screws and beautiful polished D-rings darn near the size of horseshoes-from one of the fancy horse-tack outfitters, I can't remember which one. I've got a few vintage shells, all of which sport original hardware. I made a rosewood stropping station a couple of summers ago, and kind of like the look of the Home Depot brass cup hooks. But definitely look for high-end horse tack online shops for the really nice hardware.

Thanks. Hoping I'll end up with enough material for a bunch if strops, so I'll need more standard hardware for those. I'll keep that package in mind in case I have a specific project down the road.
