It seems perfectly logical to me.
As soon as I get off this I'm gonna paint a paddle with chocolate pudding. I here it makes a good strop. The only issue is might vanilla or butterscotch be better?
The texture of the outside skin of the fungus is like very very fine suede. It has also apparently also been used in the past to give the final polish to metal. Given that members here have stropped on all kinds of materials, including wood, all kinds of textile, different hides, newspaper and cardboard, and even their own skin, I think it is worth investigating for completeness at least.
