Thanks ShavedZombie, this totally helped out!
*touchdown dance*
I feel like I've finally helped out :D
Thanks for the videos.
The slight deflection helped a lot for me too. The thing to consider now is if the edge will keep it sharpnest as long as with a really taut strop.
I don't think that really matters as much as how sharp it starts out... I usually restrop during shaving...
Then again, YMMV
I ordered an English Bridle last Friday and it landed on my door step next Thursday. Great service! The leather is very nice and the stropping even better. My first impressions are very positive. Can't way to put it in use.
The bridles are just fantastic strops :D Glad yours is no less... Make sure you give it a good hand rubbing prior to stropping, it makes a surprising amount of difference.
Cheers,
Jeremy
The Bridle is very nice indeed. I didn't fall in love with the nylon webbing component though. I have replaced it with a Tony Miller smooth cotton from my synthetic strop. I like it better and I am planning to use the Dovo white paste in a near futur so the cotton is a better choice for me.
Give the Webbed Fabric a chance... That stuff is fantastic... It sounds wierd when stropped on, but it REALLY works well... It's just fabulous stuff... When you make a rotation it REALLY shines.. Like going from TM linen to Webbed fabric (then to TM Nylon, if you have it) is fantastic.
Also, once you wear the bridle in a little more, you'll love it even more... It'll feel and perform spectacularly.
Congrats on the new strop
