Can anyone tell me where I can acquire strop hardware for 2 1/2" and 3" strop widths. I recently cut a 3" strop from American tanned Bridle Leather and it has turned out to be a very good strop, soft, supple and a very good draw which is improving day by day. I would like to make a few more strops.
Any help on the hardware will be appreciated....... :)
"D" rings from a tack shop or leather store are the easiest to find.
If you're looking for the traditional strop hanger hardware as shown in the strop you've pictured, the only places I've found over time require a minimum quantity purchase of 50 or more.
I had a couple great links to some online sources for them but lost the links when I had to reinstall the OS of my laptop.:rant:
So, they are available and in different sizes and finishes (chrome, satin) but I've never found a place where you can buy just a few.

Keith at HandAmerican was selling some real nice strop hardware here. Shoot him an email or give him a call. You may have to be patient for him to get back to you but he will in due time.
I was hoping that a forum with over 15,000 members would yield a more productive response to my question. Apparently those with this knowledge are reluctant to share their hardware sources and understandably so.
It is not my intention to put anyone out of business. I merely wish to make a few strops with the "proper" hardware for myself and a very few friends......

I think the forums have just been a little on the slow side for responses lately. From what I have seen it is not like the members here to withhold their sources for materials or hardware. Give it a little time for more people to come across this post and I'm sure you will come up with some resources.Quote:
