OK, I have a balsa CrOx Strop which I won in the January drawing (Thanks again to Bill and the donator)! However, I don't know what to do with this thing. When, how and why to I use it? Do I use it in place of my strop occasionally? Is it for a light touchup or for a blade that's really dull? Any help is apprecaited. Thanks in advance.
Only use it to bring back an edge that is loosing a little keenness. Usually 5 laps (stropped like on leather) can refresh an edge nicely. You don't want to use it too often though. Congratulations on winning that!

It almost does not cut but may touch up and maintain a blade
that is beginning to get dull. It will not sharpen a blade that

Try picking one day in the week to strop on it prior to canvas.
Be sure to clean off blade after using cromox to remove residue before using your other strops to avoid contaminating them with cromox.

If I find on the first pass that a razor seems to have a harsh feel or lack in keenness I would take my flatbed with chrom ox and do the fore mentioned 5 or so strokes and 9 times out of 10 have a very nice second pass.
