I just received, and put to it's first use last night, a Tony Miller Heirloomm Latigo strop with the Genuine Linen. While I have been using an Illinois #827, this strop is just so much more! First off, it is constructed so much nicer than the Illinois. Heavier hardware, actual linen as opposed to the rigid canvas almost plastic product that the Illinois has, and a much nicer draw. I absolutely love it!
Mr. Miller puts out a fantastic strop with care and love put into every one he makes. That's why he has earned and deserves the respect he has. I also have a couple of products from him , and I love them also.
I haven't figured out what the D-rings are for though yet.
I managed to get hold of a custom horsehide with linen, extra long and barber ends. It's a different league to my others. They're good, but not that good!
To use in place of handles. Some guys do not like gripping handles and prefer to just loop their fingers through the dee rings.Quote:

Yeah, if I'd have known that the Dee rings were for that use I would not have bought them. I like the handles. I thought the Dee rings were an integral part of the strop, silly me!

I speak of the great Joe Rollino. Hit by a car back in January.
At age 104, he was still going strong! One can only wonder how much longer he would have went on. Are there any left now besides Slim?
I do remember Joe, that was tragic. To live the life he lived and get struck by a car was truly saddening. Of the older generation, no, I think Slim Farman is one of the last.
