My "new" SRD Premium 1
Well I blame it on stropping while intoxicated but my Premium 1 was looking a little worse for wear. I had cut my teeth on a 2 1/2" wide Red Imp, which I've never nicked BTW, and decided to give my Premium 1 a trim. So it is now a 2 1/2" wide strop and suits me just fine. In the meantime I put the plug in the jug, literally, and with 24 days alcohol free under my belt I will endeavor to keep it that way one day at a time. My posts may not be as lively but my strops will be better off. :)

Its funny but I have a strop that suffered the same exact fate as yours. Haven't touched a drop since December, one day at a time is a good thought to keep. Best wishes with your new strop!:)

Don't text when you are stropping either, please!
We may need a new group: DADS (Dudes Against Drunk Stropping)

Congrats it takes allot of guts to admit things like that and will power to tell your self to back off of something you see as a problem in your own life.
Some times it harder to see your own downfalls than it is to see those of others.

Glad you plugged the jug, not an easy thing to do.

Hey Jimmy, best of luck to you on your new journey. I had that happen to me on my beginner strop, so I took a double edge blade gently sliced off the thin layer of excess leather and then gently sanded it with a 2k sand paper. The strop was good as new.

Congrats on 24 days sober, and a big step forward, Jimmy! I hope there's many more in your future, one day at a time!

I can accomplish the same type of nicks without the jug. Good thing for sandpaper. In all seriousness, I wish you the best in keeping on the wagon.

Nice work on the strop Jimmy, congrats on getting back on the wagon, and congrats on over 30 days now!

Personally, I prefer 2 1/2 inch strops.
I used to have a bad habit of cutting my hair when I was drunk. I'd drink, go to the bathroom, drink, and go to the bathroom. Problem was there was a mirror over the toilet, so while standing there staring at myself I'd see that I wanted a change. So I'd drink more, go to the bathroom, and start cutting. Since I'd been cutting my hair for a long time, I was usually able to fix any mis-cuts the next morning but I'm glad I finally got out of the habit of looking in that mirror.
God grant me the serenity to accept the damage to my strop,
the courage to make the repairs that I can,
and wisdom to not do it again.
Hang in there Jimmy!
