Okay, so I know Zeepk and the rest of that list are inferior quality razors, but what about strops? Is there really anything special to differentiate between one piece of latigo and another? Could one really mess up a 2- or 3-inch piece of leather? I know obviously there are nicer strops out there but for an amount of money I could count on one hand would it maybe be worth it for a travel strop or one I can leave at my parents' house for when I come home?

and not all use latigo
if you want cheap i would suggest Illinois or ruprazor the Filly
anything less is just a waste

selective new york i think has a ok fabric and dont think that the leather does to much damage(still bad but atleast not worst in class)
Edit: it seems Selective delivers vinyl in place of fabric on some strops so that just canselles all the good i said about it above
I have never used a Zeepk strop but several people who have fallen for them have declared them to be absolute crap. You'd be better off buying a piece of real leather and making your own strop rather than buying a Zeepk.
It is my experience that companies which are making cheap strops are manufacturing them to "look" good with a coloring and glazing on the leather which leaves them with no "Draw" whatsoever.
I think a good strop is one of the most important accessories needed for straight razor shaving . You don't need the very best , but you should have a good one . Not only is the type of leather important , a good strop needs to be flat , and durable . If you want a cheap strop , fold up a piece of news paper and lay it on a flat surface . I've never tried it , but others have , and they say it works well .
how about using these crappy strops as pasted/powdered strops? still a bad idea?

When i first got into straights, a local hairdresser/barber was selling straights and strops for very little money, so i bought a strop, same make as the straights they were selling, which i belive were called rock, total waste of time.
