I picked up a 10g tube of Red Paste DOVO Strop Paste and use it on the suede side of my paddle strop. Often times I'll use the pasted side prior to the untreated side before a shave. It's on a TI travel strop that I intend to use this summer on vacation.
Will this paste ruin the edge of a razor that just came off my Coticule? is it a step backward in the sharpening process? If it is, then what paste should I use?

Ok. It's a step backward in the honing process. I'll rip the suede side off my paddle and replace it with a new suede strip. That's easy.
I suppose this means that I should put the green Chromium Oxide paste on the strop, right? Before a shave I should run it across the green side a few times and then the untreated leather side, correct?
I'd avoid using it that often. It's simply unnecessary. Use plain leather everyday, but do a few laps on the CrO when the blade feels like it's losing its keenness.

there is a company that uses red dovo after coticule in belgium i forget the name .
i use ti paste after coticule with out standing results and since a thew lads on coti.be have tryed it , and they were very impressed. they say its agressive but it does leave a smooth edge, and you can pick it up in the uk very cheaply
I've only been doing this about three months, but something tells me not to put anything on that strop unless it needs to be repaired.Quote:
