Hi,
I've been wet shaving for more than a year and i'm desperate because i can't keep my razors giving me smooth shaves. After receiving my last shave ready razor i got wonderful shave, next other shaves it was pulling as hell. The problem is my stropping for sure, it did this with all the razors i bought.
So, having the problem in mind, i decided to concentrate my effort on only one razor and i looked at my technique, tryed to improve it. By now, i feel i should get better result with stropping since i have decent speed and dexterity with the razors. But its not the case.
So i red posts in forum trying to find answers. After getting a clue this way, i found out my stop was curly at some place. My blade is not sticking to it all the way. Since it's a 3" dovo i did'nt had to do X-strike, i was just going straight. So i changed my technique doing x-strike but my strop is so much nicked on the edges, im afraid to damage my blade. I also repaired my strop several times with sanding papers, spending hours to get the original texture.
So by now, i still dont have good result with stropping. I want to buy a new strop, 2" wide with linen side: the real thing. And i want to learn to strop the good way, the hard way. My question is: could someone recommand me what could be a good purchase for my second strop? Something not fancy, that has an average learning curve and that could easily be good for life.
My razors are all about the same: 5/8 round point or smaller.
Thanks you.
JP
