Pasted strops are wonderful, but you need one _plain leather strop_, and it should be your _best_ leather strop.
Classic Shaving has a pretty good reputation on this site; whatever they sell should be OK.

Don't be afraid of narrower strops. The X stroke is really not difficult to learn at all. Since there is a good chance you will nick up your first strop anyway you may as well learn the X stroke while you are at it.
