I was reading it on another thread, the concept so I understand is that compounds such as graphite are abrasive but at such a fine level (0.001 micron) that that if used as a stropping compound they will keep a razor in better condition without comprimising the overall integrity by removing copious amounts of steel EVERY time you use the strop.
