Want to make a paddle strop

The guys at Tandy leather were extremely helpful, gave me lots of tips. They even offer a class which looks kind of interesting....

That's cool! I just realized where you were from...our corporate office is in Jacksonville, FL.

Has anyone used buckskin instead of cow hide? I have some extra buckskin from Tandy and want to put it to use. Luckily for me I am also in need of a strop so I figured I'd make one. Any thoughts of the buckskin? Pros or cons mabe?

horse, cow, buffalo, pig, cangaroo... no havnt heard of a buckskin strop yet

Cool, let me know when your in town....One of my best friends lives and has his office in Wimberley TX. SW of Austin....

BTW, Buckskin should be fine, I'm curious to hear your results...I did look at other stuff when I was at Tandy, they had Kangroo, Snake, Alligator, etc...They have quite a large selection of material.
