    Default ShamWow

The other night I decided to try something different for stropping my razor. I thought it would be nice to be able to sit at my desk and do the stropping. I remembered reading some posts where newspaper was used and I thought of the ShamWow. They had been sitting in a drawer since I got them over a year ago. So I went at it - did about a 100 laps and then shaved with my razor. Wow (pun intended) it really shaved nice - a very smooth and close shave. As good as any shave I've had.
I plan to keep using the ShamWow - they never did work for the reason I originally bought them for.

I thought the Shamwow had a shaggy surface? Is this really good for stropping? I'm just used to seeing very smooth surfaces used.

    Taken from Sham-Wow FAQ.

ShamWow clothes are made out of a rayon sort of material which is woven in a certain way to make it feel a bit like felt. When wet, it becomes a soft leathery material.

I would think it would be quite similar to stropping on a felt component. Kudos to you for trying out something new and glad it worked for you.

Never hard of a Shamwow .... I thought maybe you were talking about a henway .
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I'm actually quite surprised that more people don't use a henway in their progression. It really fills the gap between hones and strops.
