I've got anchors/plastic molly bolts that I find work very well.
However, I would move the strop from the bathroom. Excess humidity and warmth will not be good friends to your expensive piece of leather.
It's kind of like inviting tequila to the party after you've had 12 Sam Adams.
Seriously, you'll do well with anchors.
I like my strop to hang at a approximate waist high height. Door knob height is about the same IIRC of the old barber's chair hooks where they hung their strops. I use a zip tie to go round the door knob and hang off of that. No worries about pulling anchors out of sheet rock.
I put a metal S hook on my doorknob and attach the strop to the S hook.
I also attach my strop to the closet door, using a piece of 550 cord rather than a zip tie. I thought about affixing an eyebolt in the bathroom, but I was pretty certain SWMBO wouldn't be too keen on that.
I have anchors in the wall.
It seems many people like to hang them at the height of a doorknob.
I don't!
My strops hang from just about eye height.
I find it easier to strop correctly, and maintain a taut strop that way.
YMMV:D
I like these.
SailBoatStuff Marine Hooks - Snap, Gooseneck Hooks, etc.
Almost half-way down.
I ran a 1/4" eyebolt into a stud in the wall, but I have been known to overbuild things from time to time (also I live alone and don't have to consider WAF issues)
I just use one of the large 3M stick-on hooks. I rent, so I didn't want to make a hole in the wall; it's been almost a year, and still haven't pulled it off. Oh, and I like it about chest height, and I strop at an angle with the other end at waist height.
Lately, I've been using the paddle strop all the time. But when I was using a hanging strop, I just used one of those over the door clothes hooks. Worked just fine.
I hang my strop on a towel rack as you do. I use D-rings. Seems to work for me, but I'm not sure if it is proper.
Im using a KenRup strop and it has a leather tie with it.. and just slop that over a door knob.. but this weekend i was in Buahaus and they had LIFELINE PELICAN HOOKS they were only like 8 euro so im planning to run a 6mm carrrage bolt thew the wall with wooden plate on the bolt side and the hook on the other. for me as long as i keep the bolt hole in the tile on one side and fill the other when i leave IM GTG. (PS yes its over kill but it should look cool as he11)
I ended up buying some command hooks 17505 from Hobby Lobby and stuck them on my bedroom wall.
Thank you for all your help and Ideas.
