I just received my first straight shaving kit from SRD and I'm excited for my first shave! However, I noticed there are some ridges on the strop which can be felt if I slide my hand down the strop. Is this something to be concerned about?

I don't know . You should contact SRD , and ask them . I'm sure they will help you out .
Run the razor over it gently and see if anything happens.
+1 to the above though, as well.
Are the ridges naturally occurring in the leather or do you think it is a crease or something like that?
If it is a natural ridge from the leather I wouldn't worry too much.
I have them in a couple of my strops as well and have never felt they do anything negative to the razor.
What I did do to ease my mind about it was to lay the strop flat on a table and slid a glass bottle up and down the strop.
I used quite a bit of pressure doing this, and it seemed to flatten it out a bit.
In addition I hand rub all my strops when I pass them, that makes sure they keep supple and will break it in beautifully.
Now, if you do feel there is something wrong with it, do contact SRD, they are top notch, and will take care of you in the best possible way!
A strop should be totally smooth. If you can feel ridges with your hand I don't think I would be using it. Contact SRD and discuss it with them.
I have contacted SRD. They don't look like creases so I would assume they're just natural ridges? Here is a better pic:

I have a similar concern with the strop that I received from the same shop. This being my first ever strop I really have nothing to compare it to. Running my hand across it I can feel waves in the strop. They aren't straight across like the ones in your picture. The best way to describe it is, its almost like it was twisted and stored in that state for a while.
When I run the razor down the strop I noticed that due to these waves the edge of my razor will not stay flat against the strop. For example the heal will be flush but the tow will not be touching due to these waves.
Do I need to go through some sort of break in process with this thing like a baseball glove?
I'm so new that I could be ruining the edge of the razor and not even know it.
