Have a picture? I never heard of them.
I've never heard of it. Heck, I can't even say it!
I've had two, and now I have one. I'll take some pictures and upload them in a few minutes. The first was a black cow hide with a hard wool cloth component. I didn't care for it. At all. The other one has the same handle and linen/leather combination as the one Robin reviewed, here. The only difference is mine is stitched together, and that's a plus, IMHO. The leather is really thin, and stitching it with the linen the way he did probably helps prevent cupping, but I didn't ask him. It has a pretty heavy draw relative to my SRD Premium IV and the linen component is very nice (I don't recall any differences in the linen that Tony Miller uses, and I don't have one anymore to compare them, but they are very, very similar).
This is currently my second favorite strop behind the Premium IV, but it's really quite cool. The craftsmanship is impressive, and I really like the handle design.
If you get one, I'd love to hear your thoughts :)
They are for sale at superiorshave. They are not cheap and that is the reason I asking for opinions.Looks like I will have to buy on and report my thoughts on the strop.
While I don't have one he made from scratch I do have a strop that Torolf restored. The quality of his work is amazing and he has spent a lot of time getting to where he has with his strops. It is news to me that he is selling through Jarrod, but very cool that he now has an American distributer.
I've had two of those (loved them both), and it's my daily go to. Just do a little palm-rubbing on it before use and in a couple of weeks, it'll be great. I also find the synthetic component to be quite effective.
I have one of his strops, it has become my favourite strop for daily use.
I stress "has become" because at first I had some trouble with the hard wool component (as Paul has said before me). However, with some continued use it has become less hard and it's a joy to use.
Torolf also sold me a refurbished paddle strop.
What really strikes me looking at his work (both what I have and what I've seen from others) is the incredible craftmanship and attention to detail.
In other words, you can't go wrong with one of his strops. Pity his site isn't online yet.
I have a 2" which I like a lot, nice draw, but not overly heavy, and the natural linen is great. I prefer a 2.5" strop, so I just ordered a second Scrupleworks strop, will be in my hands in a day or two... :)
The 2.5 will have the worsted wool second strop. Takes a while to break in, according to him.

And there was a box in my mailbox today!
It's incredibly nice, the leather is a bit thicker than on the 2", yet still really soft. The wool strop will be killer with some break-in.

Thanks for the kind words. It is satisfying that these are getting put to good use.
regards,
Torolf
Thanks to you enablers my Scrupleworks 3 inch strop arrived today.I just got thru stropping a razor for the morning and I believe I just used one of the best strops that money can buy.
The leather is competely amazing, the draw is nothing like any other strop I have used and I would say it is damn near perfect.
I have found the strop for me.
Paul
+ 1 on the above. I have been using the 3" leather/linen and it is a pleasure to use. Just the right draw on the leather and I have only used linen so it comes together well with this strop!
I just ordered a Scrupleworks 3" from Jorunn at Fitjarsoap.no tonight. Looking forward to receive it, looks and sounds fantastic!
For those who have them, I take it you're finding the leather to be very flexible? My favorite strop for that reason is the SRD P3 (buffalo), but sometimes I'd prefer slightly less draw. Getting intrigued... :)
That wool looks great & I like 2.5" width! Hopefully SuperiorShave will carry those also. How would you say the wool differs from the linen he uses, if you've had a chance to break it in yet? I'm hoping it'd be very good cleaning, but very smooth on the blade.
I have used my new 3" Scrupleworks for a couple of days now, and I can say that without any new honing or whatsoever, just using this strop gave me a new experience when shaving with a straight razor. Not that my other strops are bad, I use a SRD Black Latigo and a Ambrose, but this strop has a just incredible leather, and a perfect lenght for stropping. It is quite a bit longer than my SRD Black Latigo.
The Thiers-Issard 7/8 I used this evening performed like never before after 50 linen and 100 leather on the Scrupleworks strop. It is expensive, but worth every penny, craftmanship is excellent and performance seems even better if possible. Shaving with straights is learning by doing, and I found something special a couple of days ago. If you are a Strop lover I think these strops are up there among the finest there is.
Did you put Dovo White in the linen or leave it untreated? I think Jarrod said that Torolf himself recommended it, but I could be wrong.
I'm thinking this will be my next shaving purchase after my bank account recovers from my Oozuku! :)
I did not add any Dovo white, just started using it like it was. It is correct that Torolf says you can use the white Dovo on the linen if you want a smoother surface, but with some break in the linen will be perfect without the Dovo, so I wanted mine to be "all natural".
leave it natural in my opinion.
I put Dovo white on my 2" Scruple, works quite awesome, but it was just as awesome without.
Man, if this was offered in 2.5" widths I think I'd be all over it.
Mine pictured earlier in this thread is 2.5"
I think I'll leave mine natural, now that I think of it. I really like the feel of my TM linen as is & I take it this is very close to that. Still really curious about that worsted wool option, but if Jarrod doesn't get any in, I'll probably just go w/ the 3" w/ linen.
Craftsmanship and beautiful are the two words that come to mind when first encountering this strop. The leather is soft and flexible, allowing for easy storage during travel. The linen is rustic looking; reminiscent of jute. I wouldn't dare put anything on this rare linen.
The 2.5" strops can be ordered from Fitjar (worsted wool), or from Torolf with natural herringbone linen.
For the unaware, he is currently offering Horween oil tanned horsehide strops here.

The only thing about ordering from Fitjar is I don't think they have other shipping options--I checked what it would cost via the Post as I'm really intrigued by the 2.5 model, but Jarrod doesn't carry them: came out to nearly 50 USD for shipping!:dropjaw:
I had the same issue. I have no idea why their shipping to the US is so high. Ordering directly from Torolf is currently the best option for those of us in the US who want 2.5" models.
Got a 3" w/ linen from a member here: may the shaving gods forgive me for the time I've wasted. :D
Unbelievable feedback. Just unbelievable. I'm looking for excuses to strop razors just to feel that leather! Best strop I've ever used! Not joking. At all. :bow
Recently got a 3" horsehide with linen. I can't think of a better compliment than to say I haven't touched my Kanayama since. The feedback is wonderful, and the edge feels great coming off this strop. What's more, the workmanship on Torolf's strops is absolutely top notch. He is a true craftsman!
