Felt Strop Compound
I recently bought a felt strop and was considering a compound.
CroOx? Diamond Paste?
Not sure what is good.
As well allot of questions on grading/particle size.
Never used a felt strop before, just looking for something to lengthen the time between honing, and a finisher.
Any and all help is as always greatly appreciated.
thanks

i maybe wrong but you will most likely have to use diamond spray on felt, there is also a crox spray. I would recomend the srd .5 diamond spray on felt, lynn uses it regular and says its very consistant..

With felt sprays of any kind seem to work best. As to what kind that really depends on the person. If you have a blade the was professionally honed I would try contacting the honemiester to find out if the use any paste and go from there.

I would agree that the sprays are superior with the felt. Both the .5 diamond and the chromium oxide work very well. You don't need much either. Just a couple of light passes at 6-8 inches, dry overnight and you're good to go. I have also used the CBN sprays with some success on them too. Pastes in my opinion, are more conducive to leathers and linens, poly webbing or cotton canvas.
Have fun.

Thanks for the advice.
I think I'll try the .5 diamond and see how it goes.

You have received some great advice. I have three felt pads for my SRD modular and use crox and both
diamond sprays on them. I am always happy with the results I get.

I use the crox on my felt, it seems to be a bit smoother than the diamond for me, but both work really well
