I assume you meant to type #627
There are 2 strops from them one it the #627 and the other is the #127 they are the same strop, other then the finish on the leather, the #627 is a Russian finish (more like a suede which is why the back in bumped) and the #127 is a smooth finish...
I own quite a few of them in the #627 format I use a clean leather one for all of my Professional honing every day..
The others are used as Pasted hanging strops..
They are usually available for about $40 shipped if you simply Google search Illinois #627 or #127 and just shop the best price of the week..
In the "Low on the dollar" market, they are hard to beat as it is an actual strop with a good linen component and real swivel hardware, instead of just a strip of leather with a string... many people get intimidated by the feel of the new linen but is breaks in just fine rather quickly
BTW if it comes up on Google as a Fromm, not to worry that is the Parent company and it is the same strop...
It says 4627 on it and its 2 leather strips no linen.
I wish someone knew what those old Illinois numbers mean, I had a #6563 back in the day that was an awesome strop. I now have a #827 that I love for Kamisori.
The new linen components are really stiff and loud, but as stated they do breakdown nicely.
Link ??? or Pic ???? Please
NICE !!!!
A double leather strop, condition it and enjoy,,, never seen that one before, that was a great snag :tu
There is a Russian leather finishing side and a scott leather finishing side. A raw rough leather and a red coating. I wonder what the red coating is.
