Travelling With A Strop
I have a linen strop that I plan on taking when travelling. I will have two fully stropped razors and use the linen as my daily strop. I don't want to carry my leather on fear it will get mard. Anyone have any experience traveling with a strop? Is my plan good?

It depends how you are travelling I think. I've taken my leather strop with me all over the world (well, several times to England and Europe...), and all I do is wrap it in butcher's paper and sit it flat in the bottom of my suitcase under all my clothes and other things. It has never had an incident and always remained flat that way.
James.

I haven't travelled all over the world, but I've brought a leather strop wherever I have went. Like Jimbo I have put it flat in my suitcase, now I have a kangaroo strop I simply roll up and it fits in my dopp kit.

My solution was to get a small paddle strop. It's the cats meow for traveling.

I always thought that one of these would be good for travelling. Looks like you can just roll it up & throw it in your suitcase. They sell them on thesuperiorhshave.com in case anyone's interested...

I've used an SRD paddle strop, with leather on one side and wool felt on the other.

Great thread - I have thought about this quite a bit as traveling isn't uncommon in my family. And those are all great solutions!
I fear that ultimately when the kids get older and travel becomes farther and longer... I'll ultimately reach for my DE.
It's an alternative - all be it a lazy one - but it might work too :).

Gentlemen:
My strop has gone with me on many trips. I place it in its original plastic covering and lay it flat on the bottom of my suitcase.

I lay mine flat.... Maybe I need to think about wrapping it with something. I have a paddle strop also, but I need to get into that paddle more. Just like the feel of the hanging strop the best.

Travelling With A Strop
Going to be traveling soon...I plan to lay it flat on a towel then fold the towel over it a couple times. I have a little loop of para cord that I fix the ring to ant towel hook and then snap ring the strop to the ring.
I worry more about my mug honestly...

I just bought a Brian Brown Paddle Strop for traveling. It's small and works great. Fits in carry-on too.

Just take my homebrew paddle, can serve double duty as a billy club if need be:)

Travelling With A Strop
Possibly acquire a dovo shavette with replaceable blades so you don't have to worry about stropping.

I kinda thought of ways to lessen the travel load. What I did was get a shavette. This way all I needed to carry was a brush, shavette, and a mug. I am a minimalist when traveling. To each their own. May your solution be eloquent and effective.
