I keep looking at the SRD Horsehide strop and I can't decide if I should buy it? I don't have a horsehide strop and I feel like I might be missing out on something :D. I know it has a very light draw and some say it might even have some abrasive properties. I have a 3" SRD Premium I, TM 2.5" steerhide and a TM 3" steerhide. I usually use one of those after an English Bridle strop. So would I gain anything and I mean anything by getting a horsehide strop?
I've tried a lot of different stropping materials, including some that you've mentioned. Like thebigspendur says, if it is a well made strop in good condition , they all do the same job regardless of the material. OTOH, horsehide has become my favorite stropping material and what I go to 99 times out of 100. I would have gotten along fine with the aforementioned strops but I'm glad I got the horsehide. YMMV.

You learn to love this strop more than your others, in which case you might possibly learn to master it just a touch more than the others... maybe.
But one thing is for sure - you'll have a beautiful new strop to hang in your den!! :)
I'm thinking I should get it but if I keep it up I'll have as many strops as razors! ;)
What could it hurt? If you don't buy it, you'll probably kick yourself later wondering what it would have been like. Plus, I own SRD strops, and they're made well.

I think I will buy it. I went to Target today and was looking at the wall mounted coat racks for my strops. I think things are getting out of hand :rofl2:
