Is it possible to re-pin the Case Red Imp 132 with pins identical to the original ones? They look more like rivets than pins. Most of my original W.R. Case razors have similar rivet style pins. Thanks.

It's possible to get it close matching. Basically you would take the smaller washer FWB0#0 or FWSS0#0 and leave enough rod sticking out both sides to nicely peen a half round completely covering the washer. Takes a bit of concentration but doable.
You can buy 1/16 perfect riveted small pins from modeling stores, usually found on steam models, I've seen them on ebay, so this means you only have to work or peen the one side of the pin, so this will make your task much easier.

Thanks! Good tip from a pro! I'm anxious to resurrect this old Imp. Not sure yet if I have the skills to execute this job correctly. May have to seek some help.
Josh - If you are rescaling your Red Imp with new (or non-Case) scales, I don't think it is all that important to exactly reproduce the pins. As long as the riveting is compatible with the architecture of the scales and is well executed. Now, if you have a set of original Red Imp scales and you are looking for authenticity, I can understand your desire to recreate the original look. I made these scales for my Red Imp. They're not historically accurate, but they'll do for now. :p

The orig pins, done by machine,were production work,took a second and they look like they took a second to do.
Repin in the manner the pros on this site do,such as Walt has done.it looks a hundred times better.
If you try to replicate the origs,it will still be a replication,go with something that looks 100% better than the origs.JMO
And, if you're gonna re-pin one pin, re-pin both of 'em.Quote:
