need help fixing my safety/injector razor

Hey guys, as you all know i have been picking up any vintage razors safety or straight i can find to add to my personal collection to use and for show when i get a job when i finish school. well i picked up a common schick eversharp today with the bakelite handle when i was outta town. It was dirty but in overall decent shape and was only 5 bucks so i picked it up and when i got home i sanitized and cleaned it and soaked it in hot water and rinsed dried etc then i went to get out the old blade and replace with a new personna which i have for clients i use them in one of my shavettes and well i heard that without the key that came on the old schick blades in the metal case u kinda just get a small flathead pry just a little then slide old out with the side of the new razor well..... thats what i did and suprise suprise i got the new blade in but the spring and rivot are loose..... i feel so stupid...... i really wanna be able to use this as a functioning razor. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Or even better can they do it for me? Im not very handy so any help would be very appreciated as usual, i don't wanna have to use this razor just as a display but is that my best bet? thanks again for help-john

It's not repairable... maybe the person from whom you "heard that without the key that came on the old schick blades in the metal case u kinda just get a small flathead pry just a little then slide old out with the side of the new razor" will contribute to the purchase of a new one. And get real... these are effing-sharp razor blades, and there's a reason the delivery mechanism is constructed as it is.

Damn so is there no way to change blades without the key? And are these pretty much usually not used anymore because of that?

There are quite a few complete cartridges with new blades listed on eBay and other internet sites. This place sells them for five bucks. They are still being used and you may even find them in your local drug store, Walmart, etc.

Be careful of buying 'old new' injector razors. Even if they are still in their original packet, some are rusted(stuck) together and can't be expelled with the slide.
Stick to the Schick razors if you can find them.

I had one like that I was cleaning it up and not knowing any better removed the blade to clean it, by pushing the "spring" to the side that keeps pressure on the blade. It never worked the same, again. Once I did get blades for it and had the key I tried injecting a blade and it was just to loose to keep the blade in place. So I think the injectors are pretty sensitive when you try to dismatle them. Best bet is to use the key to eject the old blade then clean.
