advice before my next restore?

So I didnt have a sucessful restore last time and wanna be prepared for my next one that im gonna do. What gritds of paper should I use and in what order? What order for heavy rust/ pitting? And what about if its very light pitting like just enough so that polish wont remove it alone but it doesnt need alot of sanding? Also what do u guys use to support the pressure on the blade evenly during sanding? And last but not least I have two ready to be honed that only needed heavy polishing to restore im like major broke so if anyone knows anyone that does this well and correctly lmk a big thank you to everyone that has helped me! I have 60 to 1200 grit in series of sandpaper now that I have shopped everwhere in town lol.-john

For most of your questions it is dependent on how bad the pitting is vs. how hollow the razor is. A singing hollow can't take much sanding. A half hollow can take a good bit of sanding. And a true wedge can be completely reground. For a singing hollow 600 grit, full hollow 400, Half hollow 320, and true wedge 80 grit.

As to what grit to start with use double or greater than the lowest grit you think will be necessary. It is better to take longer at a high grit than to destroy a razor, with to low grit.
