is this even worth honing or keeping?

got this razor a while back and it cleaned up nice minus the little bit of pitting left on the tang area. however i didnt see in the pics that the razor has a stabiliser that needs to be reset as well as a frown starting a quarter of the way down from the stabiliser/heel area. it also has a crack in the back scale right at the pin that attaches the blade i sealed it with acrilic but the blade is loose as well. its a really unique razor and is in great shape otherwise. Its a spikuson best silver steel, and scales look new and have some of the most attractive faux tortoise shell pattern i have seen. I cant hone and am nowhere near knowing how to, or having money to buy a hone and i also dont know if after removing the frown and reseting stabiliser if this is even worth keeping since it will remove a significant amount of the blade plus not to mention the tip is all messed up. Should i sell it on ebay, or hold onto it and get it honed and reset later as well as have a new scale put on?-johnAttachment 144350Attachment 144351

It looks like it will shave fine when honed. If you want a shaver I would say you have one.

Just some thoughts here : It could be a sink hole for money and is it worth that to you ? You might be able to get a pro to hone it so it shaves but that alone may not make it worthwhile ( it does have issues). You'll have to see what they would charge. And if you can get past the looks and be happy fine. Are the scales working? Razor closes tight and true? You may be able to just sand down the crack and polish it up if they work right. This would be a good razor to learn some things on if you ever get so inclined to go there. As it sits I would guess you would not get much more than the shipping charge on the bay so nothing to gain there unless you lie through your teeth. I bet you don't want to go there. I would say keep it as a reminder of what to look out for. I have a couple of those I use as letter openers. Unless somebody comes along and volunteers to work it for free I don't see much potential here. It is waaay beyond me to fix something like that up much.

hey glen i have tried to take one so its east to see the heel and the frown but i just cant get one were you can tell which is weird because its a pretty significant frown
