Wade & Butcher restore of delaminatind scales

First attempt at trying to salvage delaminating scales on an old WB. Normally, I would just put on a set on new horn scales but thought I'd give this a go.
Followed the advise in this forum and I was happy with the result. Just applied some CA, let dry, soaked in neatsfoot oil in a baggie over night. Let dry. Sanded progressively 400 to 2K grit. Put the scales back on, added some old stainless steel collars, silver nickle pins to go with the inlays and wedge. Then just polished it up a bit. Cleaned up the blade but saved some of its age.
Something nice about bringing an old beauty back to life again. Will put a nice edge on her and add it to my rotation. Show and tell...

Ok, I read closer and see where you uses CA. Great work.

WOW! Looks great! Simple, effective method which yields great results! I am happy someone has also learned to CA before applying anything else except soap and water and drying time. The stuff ahdheres so perfectly. This is the way to preserve these. We have all been given a lesson. Cool! :D

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Just used the CA, let it dry then sanded it down progressively. Think soaking them overnight in the needsfoot oil helped a lot too.

What thickness of CA did you use? I build R/C planes and have thick, medium and thin CA sitting on my workbench. Good to know this can be done in case i come across some banged up scales.

I used "LOCTTE Super Glue Liquid" contains CA in .35FL OZ. It doesn't specify consistency but it probably thin. Seems to be about the same consistency as the blue gorilla glue which I normally use. It is not the gel. Hope this is helpful.
