Bell's Beach? I thought that was Jeffreys Bay. Hmm. I guess I should have paid attention. Although I'm not sure I really saw that whole movie straight through.

7 pages of catching up.. phew!.
Lots of nice challenges you gents are working on.
Nice work on the ford Mike, my Chrysler’s ecu rotted under the drivers fender due to similar corrosion and dissimilar metal “galvanic” rot. Sold it for 500 after spending twice that in parts to determine the issues.. rust is killing cars, but what’s all that salt doing to the water table? That’s my concern. From what I remember from my grandpa, salting fields doesn’t really help crops, so all this salt getting into the ground water is going to do what, over time?
Thaeris, some lofty goals with a few of those restores, I wish you luck!
Cheers gents.

Funny, I had a dream... Oh I don't know, several nights or maybe a week or so ago that I was surfing Mavericks. AS IF! Still I really need to go again soon. I took my daughter over a couple of weeks ago. She's still learning so I didn't get to catch a lot myself. I need to take a day off and go over. Waves have been a little disappointing here recently. That's to be expected in the summer time in Florida but that's what the longboard is for. I'll have to take my 11' 2" Bic Sport out for a day.

Here is some fat old guy holding it. Who the hell is that anyway?
:roflmao
Hahaha
I have 10 and 11’ boards too. In fact they get the most play. I gave my short board to a young girl many years ago. She rides it like a champ. I’ve never been that good.
I still have my 5'9" Stingfish from back when I was a young man but it doesn't get used anymore. I decided I was going to take it out a year or so ago and sitting on the board I was up to my armpits almost in the water. Want to dose of reality that was.
Last two boxes. Lyptuswood. The main part of the work is done. Now for the hand sanding and finish coats of something...

About bedtime for this old guy. 2 to 3 am is very early in the morning. And even earlier when it's going to be my Monday. So, goodnight to all my estranged, or is it just Strange, family!
Jerry-You amaze me with your DIY hone boxes. I just use re-purposed cigar boxes and stick any hones that don't have their own plastic box or something in an old sock for protection!
As for surfing, I'll leave it at this:

"Charlie don't surf!"
edit: I show that movie in my AP English Lit. class after they read Conrad's Heart of Darkness; it's basically the book re-set during the Vietnam War. I get a lot of mileage out of comparisons of thematic elements and how they're expressed differently between the movie and the book.
As for what I'm working on tonight, I'm putting together/packing my shaving essentials for my 2 week stay in a cabin in the Smokeys starting Saturday: 7-razor roll of my best shavers, couple of hones, strops and brushes, favorite creams and after-shaves-I should be set. If I fall off the radar for a bit after Saturday, I either found Roy in the Twilight Zone, or I'm on a trout stream somewhere. The scenery up there is gorgeous; maybe I'll get inspired and do a couple of mountain SOTD's!
Love the Smokeys and the Blue Ridge. Nice place to visit but I'm a flatbillie.
I did pick up a little challenge project at the GTG last weekend.
Mcbladescar picked this up, knowing the cell rot has gotten into it, but asked me to run this through the tumbler and see what happens.

I offer these pics, pre tear down. Interesting note was harrywally pointed out that the worst rot lines up with the light spots in the scales, when closed.
So, does uv energy have some relationship with cell rot in some cases, is my musing.. does it accelerate the decay by allowing sunlight to pass through the scale material, and to continue the thought, would that mean that storing razors in total darkness would somehow reduce the likelihood of cell rot starting in the first place?
Just wondering out loud really, and sharing with folks that may know already.
Yeah, I’m sipping some whiskey tonight too..
Cheers..
