Great job, I have a couple razors that need this done too

Nice blending, Steve.
I wouldn't know it had been cut, if you didn't say anything.
I ended up with some time in my hands today so I grabbed another easy one out of the box. I'm running out of these quickies.
Nice old Kropp!!

Nice, Clean looking Kropp!
I'm caught up on my razor projects so I dug out the next 3 that will get some work.
1. Joseph Rodgers and Sons, Sheffield, Rodgers Best on the blade. Half Hollow 11/16 at the widest part of the blade. Warped Horn scales, loose pins, rust that will be leaving some pitting. Wont be a beauty but I think it will turn out good enough for my collection of this and that and others.
2. NO NAME besides being stamped BUHS on one side of the tail and Germany on the other side of the tail. 11/16, full hollow in plastic scales. Spotty rust, NO hone ware, heal still full. I'd say its got the factory edge on it still. Bevel is so tiny I had to use a magifier to see it.
3. Genco, Clasified on the tail. Plastic wood grain scales Hone ware at the tip and tip is a bit thinner than the rest but not terribly honed off. Pins are tight and scales not warped or cracked. The Word Genco is worn a lot but still readable. very little rust. The heal/stabilizer is going to need worked a bit then I'll put a little smile on it and clean-up and is should be just fine. Should end-up being a 4/8 when done.
So there you go. My projects for the next couple months in between working to keep all of you good folks rolling with fuel. Well, besides Texas. Sorry. They wont let me take a load of fuel down south. I even asked/volunteered.

Nice work Matt. You too Jerry. Some great work I see everyone doing here.
I got a start.
Took the no name apart at the pivot. Cleaned the blade and scales with Synthetic Steal Wool and Blue Magic. Started to pin back together being really happy with myself. Thinking this was an easy one when... Crack. The rear scale popped the tip off of it. I hadn't even try to peen anything yet. Oh well, Guess I'll just bolt it together for now and wait till next weekend.
Might be able to find a replacement for it.
Here's a few pics.
I zoomed in on the only words on the razor. Hoping someone might have seen this before?

How's that. A reflection of a reflection! Cool!

Now that is a nice cool reflection Jerry! Good looking razor
Nice work happening here guys. Steve the round-to-square repair turned out great. Some really nice clean ups and projects going.
I found a strop for $1 at the flea market a few weeks ago, just the leather, no hardware, no linen. Needs cleaning but it's not nicked up and is still supple. It says "Genuine Shell and Rose's Barber Supply House, Waterloo, IA." I have a length of linen for it, so I've been on the hunt for some hardware.
Well, today I found one with hardware that will work. Check out how DRY this sucker is! But, the hardware is good, just needs a little clean and polish, and soon I'll have a working strop out of the deal.

SAVED!
Dug thru the drawer and found some more black plastic scales. Not exactly the same so had to use them as a set. They are i touch wider but a little shorter. And got a little more curve to them. Glad I've been saving this stuff. Polish and pinned. Used stack washers with brass. Ready for the stones next week.
I'd still like to know if anyone has seen these marking before.

A parts bin is a handy thing. I never throw my old scales out, even if I only have one side. If nothing else they are great templates, and in this case a quick save.
Nice work going on here gents. Garrison it looks like that leather is just a tad dry. Good thing all you needed was the hardware!
I should have taken a picture of the Rose's strop, but the only one I took a picture of was the crusty cracker there. I'll try to get a before and then an after when I work on it.
Just searching around a bit I see Rose's mentioned as early as 1912 in the Iowa State Gazetteer and Business Directory. And then this from Class & Industrial Marketing 1920

Guessing that the double reflection on that blade was from being full hollow. Hadnt noticed it before. Kind cool.
Some nice things going on gentlemen. Love this tread.
Thanks Tuzi, great little write up and I learnt something :)
Working on an old skinning knife a friend wants to give his father in law for his 80 birthday.
Was in pretty beat up shape when I got it. Most of the blade clean up is already completed.
He wants it in a sheath with his name lasered down the face..
First one of these I've ever tried to make. Normally leave the leather work to those that are better at it. But he wants a name burnt on it, so I figured I'd try.

:beer1:
Mike, I'm interested in how that will work out on leather.
Actually, I think it'll work out okay.
All kinds of good stuff in here :tu
Mike, as usual we'll all be waiting to see the sheath.......as said, you never cease to amaze
First batch of cider coming along. Put into a secondary fermenter to clear... Then soon, bottles woop.

Are you making hard cider?
Here, cider is just that. A pressed apple juice with a small amount of pulp. And has a nice bite to it, but no alcohol in it.
So if it has alcohol, we call it hard cider
Cleaned up a set of scales this evening, with some plain ol antibacterial hand soap, in hopes of not loosing the scrimshaw look to the scales.
But it washed off, clean as a whistle. So I took a chance with a brown, permanent marker, and a clean piece of paper towel, lightly dampened with denatured alcohol.
I'd color a section, rub it with my finger, then wipe with the paper towel and alcohol.
Once all was filled in, a made a few passes over the whole thing, to even it all out, and polished with a microfiber towel.
So my question is...
What ya think.?!
Can something else be done.?
Here's before n after.

That gets fairly tricky because they are plastic scales. I think you are absolutely on the right track. Once you get an area coloured how you want it some careful application of either wax or clear coat will keep it from easily getting any unwanted colour on it. Clean coat is a little more permanent. I find my dork lord glasses invaluable in these cases.
Looks sweet. A light misting or two with clear would be my advise.
Try to blow some in between the scales. I use Wheel clear coat from Duplicolor. Keep the nozzle back. Mist it.
Love to save that old stuff!
I've actually have to separate them, and thin the built in wedge.
I'm doing a blade swap. I've got a 5/8 Buck Bros. I'm putting in them, that are in a set that are more for a 6/8 13/16.
These are more fitting to the blade. But too wide at the wedge, and swallows the blade.[emoji6]
There ya go Mike, a blade to match the scales.
Even better. Blowing clear on the inside and outside works better that way.
Keep it light and frosty as-spraying. It will look more original.
Don't be surprised if it won't come apart as unpinning the bottom. Happens to me all the time.
It was not pinned at the bottom, as-original.
Someone has drilled and pinned a ton of these on the bottom, it seems.
I just repin and leave it be. Otherwise, I may break or screw-up something!
I've been honing 2 razors. I wanted to hone the King & I came across a Koken Army & Navy I had forgotten about so I decided to hone it also.

Mike those look great the way you did them!
Looking forward to seeing the completed project. As usual, you never cease to amaze
So walls are up, texture applied except 1 corner we made a change to and coat of primer put on yesterday. I just applied a skim coat to the corner and calling it done so I don't fight myself. Now to texture the remaining area, primer and paint this weekend then on to flooring.
Next big project is trying to salvage from the cedar deck planks I got for free to white wash and line my baby girls closet. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...de9fdae736.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bd9712354c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5f47bbde8b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...660f44cf4d.jpg
Modified the built in wedge on the deer scales, pulled the Buck Bro. from its scales, and pinned it into the others with brass pins, and small ,domed, brass washers.
