I accidentally hit the point of my blade on the bottom of the sink during a rince. Is there something I can do to fix this or do I need a pro? The ding catches the towel when wiped. Thanks

I guess it's technically considered the toe of the blade

Oh wait, can be inferred from the question. So I say send it out, or start learning.
Personally, I could fix it no problem. Wouldn't be my first trip down that lane. Just going to lose a bit of metal out there sooner than later.
Bummer, but honestly,
I would chalk it up to a lesson learned and send it out to a pro for honing.
It won't be a problem for them to take out that nick and get you back up and running and you'll be sure to have shave ready blade to get back in the game. I did the same thing the 1st week I was shaving with a straight. If I were you, I'd also switch to wiping the blade off on a towel or sponge on the counter. One less thing to worry about.

If it is just the very tip I would not worry about it. You could just 'mute' it but if it goes further into the edge I would send it out. I am guessing you do not have the experience nor the tools to hone razors.

That dink might spell trouble for your strop if it is catching on the towel

Yes take your washcloth and toss it over the faucet, if you drape it right you can still rinse the blade and the washcloth will keep you from dinging the razor...Quote:

Looks like a rehone will deffinately take care of it since its not any deeper then the bevel ... as for the wash cloth idea id like to see how well that works it may be in the best intrest and saftey of my babys
Had a great experience that may be helpful to all you members in the atlanta area. Found a local business, Whetstone (Larry is the owner), who hones. He makes pick ups from The Art of Shaving stores in atl. He helped me out with the ding and I had my razor back the next day. I'll start a new thread with his business info.
Great to hear that you are back in the saddle again! Let us know how the edge feels as compared to out of the box! :shrug:
The edge felt the same as it did out of the box..great. Then again, I only got 2 shaves in before the ding. The blade was a week old. Brand new essentially.
Great! Now quit rinsing in the sink...
Great advice on the rag over the faucet and in the bottom of the sink.
Personally I keep a damp cloth on the countertop at the edge of the sink to strop the foam off the blade.
