Just wondered what people are using for pins and the little finishing washers that the pins gets peened onto. Shop bought or custom. Probably both i know, but a few ideas would be lovely.
Thanks guys

1/16" brass rod stock (any hobby shop that carries RC stuff) or 1/16" brass nails (I'd love to get my hands on those as they'd make my job easier) for pins, #0W brass washers for b/w the scales and the tang and #0 brass washers for outside, to peen over. The washers are available at www.microfasteners.com. There are other options but this is what I'm using.
Firestart,
You might have trouble searching for brass nails that size, but I am sure you can find escutcheon pins. They are just small nails with small rounded heads. Pretty much what you're looking for. - John
Thanks for the tip. Where can they usually be bought?
Mertons & R. J. Leahy both come up on a Google for them. Good luck - John
I tried escutcheon pins that I bought for leather work.
They are brass plated and rock hard inside. Wouldn't peen a bit, using a spoon.
Maybe there are pure brass ones from other supliers. Just check before you buy.

Yep, I checked around yesterday, they come in brass and brass COATED steel...
I think I'll be having a go at the solid brass ones.
