My first restore
I'm new to the whole straight razor thing and just picked up a no name razor from a flea market for $22. Didn't look great, but there were no nicks or rust and minimal pitting. I sanded, polished and honed the blade and made new scales from Cocobolo. What do you think?

I think it looks good and I'm glad you got into it. My first restoration making wood scales didn't go very smoothly. They were functional but I didn't thin the wood enough and it ended up looking very clunky. I also didn't put much curve into it. Now that I think it about it they were pretty terrible. Since then I've done a few more in wood, horn, and acrylic. Horn is fun to work with but it stinks and it can be expensive. It looks great though.
Keep at it, IMO it's a fun hobby.
Did you hand sand or use greaseless compound, dremel, etc.?
