Ive been wondering why we dont have an razor restoration injury thread....considering if yall are like me I get cut or sanded weekly. Pics or a description of injuries.
Figured id start since I sanded off 2 fingertips in 2 weeks on a belt sander...once again kevlar gloves are a must....or so I keep telling myself....*sigh*
double sided tape works like a hot dam to hold pieces and keep your fingers off the belt too. You are just going to get the gloves caught in a machine. Jigs are a wonderful thing and need not be complicated.
I didnt take pictures, but I sanded my Middle finger tip on a belt sander Saturday trying to sand wood scales down to size. And I sliced my Pointer finger polishing a Blade on Sunday. The blade had drops of blood on it, I felt like Dexter (minus the killing people part).
I hate the thinned fingernails almost as much as the burned off sanded flesh part....dunno doesnt feel right lol
When I was a union ironworker (structural steel erection) they used to call a new, or inept, guy a 'Joe McGee'. They used to say, 'you can tell the Joes by their fingers and toes.' Missing digits that is ....... :gl:

worm goes back before me and my dad ive been 40 years in the oil patch and he was 45,, but I have used grinders like a sander always ends up with the 2 fingers I have that are already cut off being sanded down to the red stuff tc
Ummmm there is a thread. "Cut of the day" It does include all cuts,slices, and tools used to do it. Plenty of blood gore and remedies.
My favorite ??? Wife comes in bumps cabinet against hubby's elbow. Result = way to many neck stitches . yikes !!!!
Cutting sheet metal today,splinter came off and got embedded in my eye:( hurt like hell.
Wife got it out with a magnet.
i put some metal shards into my face doing that sorta recently. So i changed back to my slower, safer method. full-width shear/press is the WAY to cut that stuff. Of course we never has access to those.Quote:

I had metal slivers in my eyes quite a few times and I was wearing safety glasses. I swear I get more stuff in my eyes when I wear them, but I always try to keep them on. One of the times it stayed in there for almost a month. Didn't hurt while it was in there, but some how it worked itself lose and on the way out it hurt bad.
Where I worked the Safety Director had a full face shield on a mannequin's head. If you looked closely you could see a metal shard embedded in the shield right about where you eye would be. Scary.Quote:

Tidbit of info for you guys with metal in the eye. Another way to get the lil buggers out is a Q-Tip. Pull a little of the fluff out loosely and twist the q-tip to where the fibers of the q-top will contact the steel sliver. Slivers of steel are quite jagged and will hang up on the fibers and you will get it out if it's not too deep. I've had a optometrist (sp?) remove steel from my eye twice that way. Yes, both times I was wearing safety glasses. I've done it for others several times and myself several times too.
