Over polishing?

I messed up twice this week.

I had a SR that I wanted to remove a stain from. So I barely touched it with almost smooth sandpaper. Got rid of the stain but not without leaving the area underneath slightly brighter/shiner than the rest of the blade.

Also on a DE one day later got a 2nd hand great buy but wasn't in great shape. Used Autosol and it worked wonders cleaning it. But on the top plate, a small streak also was slightly shiner than the rest. Maybe I over scrubbed it?

Do you suppose with use and time the colors will even out again?

:<0) I can edit too. I am not familiar with autosol but assume it's a polish ? The sandpaper shiny can only be matched by sanding the rest to match. Pics would help but It sounds to me like you just got a few spots too clean to match the rest. If you take care of the razors like they should be I don't think the spots will wear out that much anytime soon. Once again if we could see what you see the advice would be better.

Thing with SR it's a Wacker with goldwash :( although it was on the back, wouldn't want to sand the rest it'll just ruin the whole thing. I was hoping maybe a gentler compound maybe? Because sandpaper was too fine doubt it took any metal out, probably just.. Eh! I messed up.

The DE you're probably right, just have to maybe scrub at the rest of the plate.

Funny thing is, it only happened in specific spot. The polish is very gentle been using it for a while and it kept evenly cleaning my stuff without such issues. Figure this spot maybe got a fee extra scrubs

Turns out I am not the only one. Someone at B&B scrubbed his ikon de a little too much also revealing a different color underneath.

My question is.. What can I do to make it better? The pic is from B&B my discoloration is much slighter just a tiny streak towards one side.

Well if the problem is that another color is starting to show...you have a big problem. In the picture above what happened was the owner polished through the plating and the brass is starting to show. The only way to fix this is to have the part re-plated...

The gold wash comes off if you look it wrong :<00 And splash is right about the plating. There maybe a couple of layers of different material (maybe nickle) but if you get to the base metal you will probably be fighting rust to the point of it not being with it.

Not my razor and barring rust, I kind of like the coloring on the IKON.

It's generally a bad idea to sand just 1 spot. You have to keep sanding the entire blade until that 1 spot is gone. that way you remove approximately the same amount of metal everywhere. Sanding in 1 spot is what causes bumps in the blade.
