It would be interesting to try this on a rusty blade if the Sorghum Molasses is available here.
Is the discoloration from soaking in Molasses hard to clean up?Most times it is just a matter of rinsing the material to get it back to proper color. Some times a quick buffing will do as well but for the rare case, you may have to go over it with 2K grit sand paper.
Have you tried to get some photos of the process from initial treatment to finished product?Funny thing, I am a professionally trained photographer but I don't tend to do a lot of photographing of "mundane" things like this because I have a tendency to obsess over things like lighting and presentation, so the answer would be NO.
