Afterthought-
There are occasions where it might be necessary for reasons other than high standards of craftsmanship to finish the insides of scales, for example, when one is using a material with a certain degree of transparency. Otherwise, I think finishing the insides to the same extent as the outsides is something best reserved for us OCD types.
